Our mission is to supply the world with tools that nourish the SPIRIT and nurture the body while navigating LIFE through the TRUTH of the Gospel.

Sanctuary is a rapidly expanding, diverse bookstore, now in three convenient locations: Mattapan, Needham, and Stoughton, Massachusetts. The store features Christian books, music, gifts and church supplies that speak to spirit, life and truth. Book sales constitute about 25 percent of Sanctuary’s revenue while music and gifts make up close to 50 percent. Church supplies are quickly becoming a significant part of the business. With the ability to provide resources for our parishioners and the community-at-large, Sanctuary is more than a bookstore, it is an icon in the community.

In an historic move, Sanctuary became the first Christian bookstore in Braintree’s South Shore Plaza. The May 2005 issue of the Patriot Ledger referred to Sanctuary as, “the only Christian bookstore operating in a mall in Massachusetts.”

In November 2005, Sanctuary opened its flagship store at 3 Wexford Street, in Needham Heights, MA, ideally positioned off I-95/Route 128, just off exit 19A. Sanctuary West is a 10,000 square-foot facility housing retail and office space. Its founding store is centrally located at 1500 Blue Hill Ave., in Mattapan, MA, the home of Jubilee Christian Church.

Sanctuary strives to be an active part of each community in which it is located, offering community services and programs for children and the entire family. Currently offering its Words Alive Story Hour, Movie Night, sermon duplication, and two Christian-oriented radio broadcasts makes Sanctuary a community partner.

The church bookstore reaches out to many neighborhood daycare providers and area schools, providing a monthly story hour for children. Words Alive ministers in story through PowerPoint book presentations, fantastic narration and great music. Nearly 1,000 children have participated in Words Alive since its inception in April 2004.

Movie Night is the perfect opportunity for entire families to enjoy an evening of affordable wholesome entertainment. The first Friday of each month hosts families at 1500 Blue Hill Avenue for a free Christian flick. Now in its second year, nearly 800 family members have come out for Movie Night.

Sanctuary is responsible for the Duplication Ministry of Jubilee Christian Church, processing tapes and/or cds of sermons, producing media from conferences and conventions, and selling Bishop G.A. Thompson’s literature. In 2005, Sanctuary processed 3,406 visitor tapes, 6,503 sermon tapes/cds, 1,316 Covenant Convention tapes/cds, 56 series of church conferences, and 475 copies of the book Introduction to Foundations, by G.A. Thompson.

In August 2005, Sanctuary took to the airways, producing and broadcasting Foundations for Living, the Radio Ministry of Jubilee Christian Church. The initial goal of this ministry is to simply teach the truth––the end being that you will know the truth that will set you free, to live the abundant life that Jesus Christ promised. Listeners join the program to hear a message from Jubilee’s Sunday services. The program airs weekdays from 11:00 to 11:15am on WEZE Radio AM/590.

Most recently, Sanctuary Bookstore debuted its first “life” radio program. In The Sanctuary brings together two genres of radio programming, talk and Christian music. The three-hour broadcast features the latest in Christian music, from traditional gospel to Christian contemporary. A trio of dynamic hosts facilitate call-in discussions with listeners on relevant topics and concerns within the broadcast community and beyond. In The Sanctuary listeners are also given the opportunity to call in for prayer addressing their specific needs. The program airs every Sunday from 9pm to 12am also on WEZE.

Currently, Sanctuary’s staff is comprised of 13 full-time and 15 part-time employees, as well as 13 dedicated volunteers. Staff positions include: Executive Officer, Operations Manager, Accountant and Human Resources Officer, Outreach and Marketing Officer, Needham Store Manager, Assistant Manager, District Manager, Music Buyer, Church Supplies Manager, Executive Assistant, Inventory Manager and Sales Associates.
